How did I crack PMP exam in first attempt?

I didn't knew what PMP certification is what benefit would it give to me.

One of my seniors advised me to start learning about this course and formally structure down my project management skills and experience. He also gave me PMBOK guide and Rita Mulcahy's PMP guide for free.

I started reading the chapters, going through everything and it felt like very complex & difficult to grab what's written in there.

I pinged him on MS teams, saying "Sir, I read few chapters but I am not getting anything. Can you recommend me another book that's written in a simple language?"

He laughed & said, "Deepak, this is not some random book and it is written in very simple language". Adding further, he said "What did you read today?"

I replied Conflict Resolution because that was the topic I read previous night. Then he suggested to start with that only.

And you will be surprised to know but it took him just 5 minutes and I was like "Ah, now I get it" and I was like I knew this; it's just that it was not well-structured in my thoughts.

That was the day and I did not look back.

I ready each and every chapter of that book and the PMBOK guide, watched 8-10 hours of long videos on project management, studied individual topics and steps of project management and finally enrolled to get my PDUs and appeared for the PMP certification exam.

It was 23rd November 2021 and I cracked my PMP exam in the very first attempt.

Those who don't know what is PMBOK, let me tell you PMBOK means Project Management Body of Knowledge which is a structured guide published by Project Management Insititute (PMI)® especially for the project managers. And, PMP stands for Project Management Professional which is an industry-wide known certification, issues by the PMI® and has to be renewed every 3 years. This is not just any certification. It requires deep understanding of the project management practices and how they shall be applied to several industries. The certification is not associated with any specific industry. Many renowned management consulting firms and heavy machines manufacturing companies, see this certification as a prerequisite in their project managers.
